Shawl Sets for Knitting or Crochet

Curated Shawl Sets

One of my favorite things of all time is to curate sets of yarn.  Usually, in a “normal” year, I do that at fiber festivals and farmer’s markets and even here at my farm store.  But these last 18 months have been, you know, a mess.

I still put together sets of yarn. I did it because it is fun. I did it because it is like a puzzle, a color puzzle.

And I have these sets, called Shawl Triads listed on the webstore.  These are all one of a kind.  They won’t be repeated. You can find them here.

With 1200+ yards of fingering weight yarn, you can make sooooo many shawls and even some tops.  It is easy to find patterns by searching the pattern database in Ravelry.  Last time I looked there were over 5000 shawls using this yardage.

And in order to help you get started on your new shawl with one of these sets, I’m giving you a coupon for 30% off the list price of the set.  That’s amazing! I don’t often give this kind of discount.  To get the coupon code, just sign up for our email blasts here.

Making is What We Need

Okay….now the wait begins. We may know who is president this week. But we may not. There may be recounts. There may be legal challenges.

In the meantime, how are you feeling? I’m feeling pretty anxious. I’m feeling scared. I’m feeling angry too. I’ve seen a lot of news coverage about election anxiety so I know that I’m not alone. If you’re my friend on Facebook, I’ve seen you all expressing your feelings too. I’m right there with you.

I know that for me making something whether it be a sock, a sweater, a felted soap, the making is meditative. It is calming. It helps me to focus on the task at hand. It calms my heart. It stops the loud voices in my head.

maryland shawl

So today, I’ll be knitting on my sweater. I’ll be designing a new holiday colorway. I’ll be staying away from the news. I’ll be listening to music that makes me happy.

Are you between projects? Or do you need a nice new project that is calming….not to hard, but still beautiful? I have 2 colorways for my shawl kit: Maryland My Maryland shawl now available again after a hiatus since last year. Click here to grab one for yourself.

Finally, take care of yourself. Find peace. Make something.

a tale of 2 shawls

Well, it’s a strange, strange world right now. The repetitive motions of knitting, seeing the colors change and watching a shawl grow can be just what you need for your mental health. This weekend is big for us around here. First it is our first Virtual Fiber Art Studio Tour. This is actually our 4th year of having the tour. Each year we have a featured shawl that is made with hand dyed mini-skeins. In years past, our tourists could pick up a skein here and there and then make a souvenir of the weekend. This year, since it is virtual, and we will have to mail all your purchases, we decided to ask our indie dyers to make packs of 5 mini’s.

This shawl is called “Ticket to Anywhere”. And I sure would like a ticket somewhere right now!! It is an asymmetrical triangle shawl that uses ten 100-yard minis. When you purchase a set from me or any of our dyers, you will recieve a code to discount the shawl pattern to $0. The code will be active from Saturday, June 6th to Monday, June 8. Do you have to wait until Saturday to buy the yarn? No! It’s up on my website right now. Click here to see what I have. I’ve added a few other choices as well. So go and take a look.

The second great shawl is called “Hug Shot”. It is designed by Casapinka. This shawl takes 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn. I have 8 different choices. And if you find a combo that you like better, just say that you’re buying this for the Hug Shot shawl, and I’ll send you a code. The code gives you the pattern for free. This code will be active from June 6th to 11:59pm June 14th. Casapinka says that this shawl is very soothing to knit. And it looks like a lot of fun, for sure!! Click here to see the combo’s that I have for you. These combos will be dyed to order when the current stock runs out.
