I dyed up a whole lot more sock blanks. Remember that I’m giving you free access to my knit 2 socks at a time class with purchase of a sock blank.
What’s a sock blank? It’s not a sock….not yet. It is hand dyed knitted fabric that you UNKNIT and then REKNIT into some other garment. You can knit socks with it, of course. Or you can knit it into a shawl or cowl, anything you want really.
The ones I’m adding today are dyed into gradients of color. They are so pretty. They are ONE OF A KIND!! Go here to grab yours!
Do you have second sock syndrome? Do you get excited about starting a pair of socks but only get 1 knit? Learning this great technique is for you…by the time you finish knitting one sock all that is left of the last sock is the bind off….
Are you sick of losing teeny tiny sock stitches off the end of your double points? I was until I learned how to knit 2 At A Time socks knit on 1 long circular needle. Do I still drop stitches occasionally? I’m not gonna lie…I sometimes still drop a stitch.
My new e-course teaches you how to knit socks 2 At A Time. I’m offering this free with purchase of a sock blank. I have some great blanks left. What I love about sock blanks is that there is somewhat of a mystery to what the final socks will look like. Gradients? Spreckles? Striping? What will happen? That’s the fun of it. The class is available on July 25th. You will complete it on your schedule. All lessons are recorded.
Have you always wanted to learn how to knit socks 2 at a time (2AAT)? It is my preferred way to knit socks. Why? Because they will be the same size. Row for row. I don’t really need to count. I do measure them, but I don’t have to count to make sure there are the same number of rows. I like this way because there isn’t any second sock syndrome. When you are done with one sock you are done with both.
And what about sock blanks? How do they work? Well these are knitted rectangles that contain the same amount of yarn as our usual fingering weight yarns… approximately 400 yards. They are knit double, so they are perfect for 2AAT socks. The yarn doesn’t get as tangled as when working with 2 balls of yarn.
I’m going to do a series of classes to teach you how to knit socks 2AAT from a sock blank. These classes are free with purchase of a sock blank. There will be 4 classes: casting on and getting started, how to turn the heels, how to pick up the gusset and how to finish your socks. Classes will start July 25th. They are self study, so you can access them when it is convenient for you. Click here to get a sock blank and access to the class.
I really love knitting socks, but I don’t spend a lot of time knitting. I always think I will spend the time. I’m at the lightning speed of 1 pair a year. I know, I know….most people do 1 pair per month. Still I love my hand knit socks!
I have 2 pairs going now. One, the bright pink and orange from a sock blank and the other from our chinook yarn…a luscious blend of SW Merino, Cashmere and Nylon in my Nautical colorway.
Is it too early to think about rich fall colors? It is still summer really. But, I know it’s not too early for me! I’ve been working really hard to make special colorways for all the fall fiber festivals. I was going to keep it under wraps until the shows, but that didn’t seem good enough. I thought that I should make these great colorways available to you too, whether you are going to one of those shows or not, because maybe you don’t live near any one of them or have vacation time this year.
The Autumn collection above is available in our Corrie Sock base and also in the Zephyrette base. It features deep rich fall colors. These are colorways that will add interest to any garment, whether you want to make socks, put these into a beautiful shawl or if you just need to add some to your collection. You can find the Corrie Sock collection here and the zephyrette collection here. Here how will it work? You can order up to Sept 15th. I will dye these specially for you and send them out no later than Sept 26th. Jump to the web store and get some of these for your collection.
Just added these skeins in a holiday collection. I’m taking pre-orders for these. These yarns are on my Corrie Sock base which is a fingering, superwash wool/nylon blend. It makes fantastic socks, but is equally wonderful for shawls and sweaters, hats and mittens. Great for holiday projects to keep or give away.
Order period ends 9/15 and shipping date is 9/26. So go here to order one or all of these wonderful variations on the holiday theme.
This week I added a whole bunch more sock blanks into the web store. Sock blanks are the serendipity of knitting. They are fun to pick out and you really don’t know what the end product will be. Of course it all depends on what you are going to make. Are you making socks with a 60-70 stitch round? Or are you making a cowl that has a 150-190 stitch round? Or of course if you are making a shawl that increases with each row you will get another different look.
Are you wanting to know more about sock blanks and how to use them, click here to a blog post that I wrote last year.
And if you are ready to dive in and try making something that will be surprise, click here for all the options. They are all one of a kind, so be sure to grab your favorite before someone else gets it.
