Shop Update–Some Spring Colors

Last weekend was supposed to be our open studio, but alas we had lots of snow instead!

I’ve been dyeing up lots of new colorways. First up is some new Zephyrette colors. Our zephyrette is a light sport weight blend of baby alpaca (cria), cashmere and silk. It is OH SO lovely!!

I’ve also been adding to the colorways of Sparkly!! And let’s face it, we all need to have a little sparkly in our lives!!

And finally, since we weren’t open this weekend, here is my special yarn that was inspired by Peonies, which are my favorite flower. It is dyed on our Chinook base which is Superwash Merino, cashmere and nylon.

New Yarns, New Inspirations

Last week was momentous in our country. And I have to say that I was inspired by several things. The moving memorial to those who have succumbed to Covid. Washington’s sky deepening into night with the Washington Monument going from white marble to gold stone.

This is on Chinook Yarn: Super Wash Merino, Cashmere and Nylon. It is fingering weight with 414 yards per skein

The next day I loved the array of colors from all the women who attended the inauguration. From Michelle Obama’s burgundy pantsuit and long coat to the pastel coats of the Biden girls. And of course Dr. Biden in her blue sparkly ensemble. I just loved the power of the color. The statements that women will not be overlooked.

Sparkly Yarn is super wash Merino with Lurex. It is fingering weight with 400 yards per skein

Both are available in our webstore. Get some for yourself today! Click here for Dr. Biden colorway. Click here for Covid Memorial Colorway

WIP Wednesday

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a WIP Wednesday. I am closing in on finishing 2 projects. I am excited about that for sure. I need to invoke my 10 minute knitting rule…especially on this sweater. It hurts my hands at this point to knit the sleeves. But I’m so close. I have to finish it.

Modified Ursa Sweater made with 100% 3ply mohair

And the Conflagration scarf is within 1 or 2 more repeats and I can bind off.

Conflagration scarf made with sparkly yarn

What’s next? A new shawl. I can see it in my head. But I have to get it on paper, pick the yarn and cast on.

What’s on your needles? Reply to this blog and let me know…or better yet, send a photo!

curated skeins for your next shawl

At shows and even here on the studio tours that we do, I hear people saying that they have a hard time picking out skeins for larger, multiple skein projects like a shawl or a sweater. That is part of what I love about my job. I have an entire room of color and it is so much fun to pull together skeins. Here are a few of the trios that I pulled together today. You can shop for your own curated skeins by clicking here

Three different bases but the same fingering weight: Golden Mosaic, Golden splash and Agate
Hyacinth Mosaic, Violet, and Forest Violet
Carnival, Fiesta Sparkly and Fiesta Chinook
Barn Door, Crushed grape and Stormy Mosaic
