Making progress on the yoke of this Iounne sweater. It’s a free pattern from Knitty. Is it simple? Oh so SIMPLE! But it is my first time knitting a steeked colorwork yoke sweater. So simple is OK. And this is all handspun yarn. The gold is from my own lamb fleeces and the color is hand dyed BFL roving that I dyed specifically for myself.

WIP Wednesday
Well, I think we all have a lot of time to knit. Even if you are working from home, you can now knit through those meetings because they are conference calls and no one can see you. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been changing from night pajamas to day pajamas. It’s hard to actually put on real go out in public clothes, right?
So my WIP today is a new shawl that I’m working on. I’m using my Chinook yarn which is a blend of Superwash merino , cashmere and nylon. It is soft and has a great drape to it.
A while back, I asked my Instagram followers to pick the set of skeins for this shawl. These grey, green and purples edged out the blues and the pinks.
When I design a shawl, I have to make it something that I can knit. And I’m not the most skilled knitter. So this shawl is great TV knitting so far. It is mostly garter stitch with some eyelets thrown in for some spice. I do plan on adding some lace bits, but they will also be something that I can handle. And not too difficult for people. Because the yarn is so pretty, I want it to do the work.
What are you working on? Add a comment to let me know.
WIP Wednesday
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a WIP Wednesday. I am closing in on finishing 2 projects. I am excited about that for sure. I need to invoke my 10 minute knitting rule…especially on this sweater. It hurts my hands at this point to knit the sleeves. But I’m so close. I have to finish it.
And the Conflagration scarf is within 1 or 2 more repeats and I can bind off.
What’s next? A new shawl. I can see it in my head. But I have to get it on paper, pick the yarn and cast on.

what do you want to make in 2020?
It’s a thing….The Make Nine Challenge… I’m not sure who started it. But you can see all kinds of plan by your friends and people you follow on Instagram and Facebook. Here is my Make9:
4 of these are WIP’s. I want to finish those 2 pairs of socks. As well as the Ursa sweater and the Conflagration scarf. I will work on those first.
Then on to new projects: a shifty pullover with my Synergy yarn.
Some quick slippers with some of our Stratus farm yarn.
A Ruffles scarf using Zephyrette, I think….
The Anemone Hat with some handspun. And the cowl with 2 colors of Alto I think.
What do you want to make? Will you take the challenge? Comment on the blog to let me know!
new sweater in the works
I need a warm and really sturdy sweater for this winter. The yarn I’m using is Cacao that I made into a 3 ply so that it is more of a bulky weight. I tried, believe me I tried to get the half brioche stitch correct in the raglan areas. I finally gave up and did a PKP rib there. Because this is going to be a outside sweater and barn sweater, I’ll probably make it longer than the pattern suggests. We’ll see how it goes.
What are you knitting this winter? Reply here or on Facebook and Instagram to let me know.
couch knitting on hot summer days
I love to do my knitting on the couch watching/listening to a guilty pleasure on the TV. Here’s a fun and easy 2 color brioche cowl knit in the round. Full disclosure…..I did have to redo this first attempt at least 4 times to fix mistakes as I learned this new technique. Yarn pictured is Rum Raisin LiViLy Cormo Worsted and Synergy mint green Worsted. You can grab some of this in my online store.
knit more wherever you are
Our lives are so busy. It’s important to take some time to do repetitive tasks like knitting or crochet. And why not do it in public? If you can work 10-15 minutes a day on your project, it will get done. So this month knit in public! I’m knitting my Zephyrette Top designed by Corrine Wacher. Obviously I’m using my Zephyrette yarn (a luxurious blend of baby alpaca, cashmere and silk) It’s like knitting with kittens!! Go grab some for yourself in my online store.
