LiViLy Cormo Wool
$15.00 – $30.00
I fell in love with Cormo sheep when I first saw their fleeces at a fleece sale. The fleeces were a stunning white color. They have incredible crimp. Why does that matter? Because a high crimp fiber will bend when it touches your skin, so it doesn't cause as much of an itch factor. Next, I saw that the individual fibers were incredibly fine. You could hardly see them as individual hairs. Again this means that the resulting yarn will be next to the skin soft. When we started raising Cormos we loved them for their sweet nature. They are like big marshmallows of fleece.
After the yearly shearing, we send off the fleeces to be cleaned, carded and then combed into top. This ensures that all the hay bits are out of the end yarn. It also means that the tiny balls of crimpy fiber called noils are gone. It is just smooth beautiful top for the spinning mill to work their wonders. I then take the top up to Pennsylvania to be spun. It comes back to me in 200 yarn skeins. I then dye it up in gorgeous colors.
This yarn makes a great sweater or top, hat, cowl, shawl or scarf. The yarn has great stitch definition. I've used it to make cabled sweaters, hats and mittens.
