new pattern and kit for Zephyrette
This cowl is knit in the round using the Linen Stitch. Using this stitch has been on my wish list for years. Why? Because I started out as a weaver and this stitch not only appears to be woven but it is also knit as an “over/under” pattern. By knitting in the round, you never have to purl. It is merely a knit stitch and a slipped stitch, over and over again. Because an odd number of stitches is cast on, you can continue to go round and round. I really got into a rhythm and it became a meditative kind of process. Kit includes yarn and pattern, just add needles and get ready to have fun relaxing.
autumn colorways for preorder
Is it too early to think about rich fall colors? It is still summer really. But, I know it’s not too early for me! I’ve been working really hard to make special colorways for all the fall fiber festivals. I was going to keep it under wraps until the shows, but that didn’t seem good enough. I thought that I should make these great colorways available to you too, whether you are going to one of those shows or not, because maybe you don’t live near any one of them or have vacation time this year.
The Autumn collection above is available in our Corrie Sock base and also in the Zephyrette base. It features deep rich fall colors. These are colorways that will add interest to any garment, whether you want to make socks, put these into a beautiful shawl or if you just need to add some to your collection. You can find the Corrie Sock collection here and the zephyrette collection here. Here how will it work? You can order up to Sept 15th. I will dye these specially for you and send them out no later than Sept 26th. Jump to the web store and get some of these for your collection.
Holiday Collection PreOrder
Just added these skeins in a holiday collection. I’m taking pre-orders for these. These yarns are on my Corrie Sock base which is a fingering, superwash wool/nylon blend. It makes fantastic socks, but is equally wonderful for shawls and sweaters, hats and mittens. Great for holiday projects to keep or give away.
Order period ends 9/15 and shipping date is 9/26. So go here to order one or all of these wonderful variations on the holiday theme.
new kits for Camau shawl
The Camau shawl is a triangular shawl that is mostly garter stitch…so easy TV knitting. It is intersected with short rows of eyelet stitches. There is also a lace bind-off. These kits contain 4 skeins of my Cirrus yarn. This yarn is a 2ply wool and alpaca yarn. It has a tweedy look from the differences between wool and alpaca. This yarn is on sale right now, since my collaborator and myself, no longer have these animals, so we can’t reproduce the yarn. This shawl kit is also on sale. So grab one today. It is fun and easy! Get one today!
new marled yarns in the shop
I have added these yarns into my webstore here. Before the skeins were one of a kind skeins, so I only sold them in person at a show or in my studio. But now I have 5 new colorways that I can list online. There is still some variability within the skeins, but they are very consistent. And I’m just about to take 5 more colorways to the mill and they will be available in the next few weeks and hopefully at the fall shows.
What can you do with them? First of all they are made with really fine merino. Not superwash, just plain merino. And they are within the DK to Worsted weight. They are next to the skein soft, so you can make a lovely pullover or cardigan. They are great to use in a 2 color brioche pattern. And of course a hat or mittens or fingerless mitts would be perfect. In a stockinette stitch these yarns will look tweedy and wonderful. Here are some of the available colors:
sock blanks to knit or crochet
This week I added a whole bunch more sock blanks into the web store. Sock blanks are the serendipity of knitting. They are fun to pick out and you really don’t know what the end product will be. Of course it all depends on what you are going to make. Are you making socks with a 60-70 stitch round? Or are you making a cowl that has a 150-190 stitch round? Or of course if you are making a shawl that increases with each row you will get another different look.
Are you wanting to know more about sock blanks and how to use them, click here to a blog post that I wrote last year.
And if you are ready to dive in and try making something that will be surprise, click here for all the options. They are all one of a kind, so be sure to grab your favorite before someone else gets it.
another beautiful shawl to knit with zephyrette yarn
I love this Pi shaped shawl. It is knit with 3 skeins of Zephyrette yarn in the Jade colorway. This is one of 6 shawls designed using the principles of Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Pi shawl. The lace patterns are in a camping theme with the top being paw prints, slanting leaves, willow twigs and with an edging of waves and droplets. You can find this FREE pattern here on Ravelry. It was knit for me by Lois Geer, who whipped this up and declared it an easy pattern! She notes the the increases are between the lace motifs which makes it easy. Of course I would be using a million stitch markers in order to keep track of where I was. You can make it in any color you would like. Zephyrette comes in multiple colors here.
new colorway on 2 yarns for the fall
Here’s the next installment of fall colorways. These are inspired by cardinals in snow. These yarns along with other nature and autumn inspired yarns will be available at the fall fiber festivals: Shenandoah Valley Fiber Fest, Fall Fiber Festival at Montpelier and Rhinebeck. Come and grab a skein or two for lovely socks, shawls, hats and mitts!
nature inspired colors to knit and spin
These coneflowers are right outside my studio. They are abundant right now and full of butterflies, bees and other flying beauties.
